Dreading Port au Prince was a proposal for the 5th Ghetto Biennale's open call mapping the city of Port au Prince. Dreading attempted to create a conceptual map by visiting different barbershops in different neighbourhoods by collecting scrap hair. Barber shops and hair salons are an interesting constant throughout the city, defying class. Around 30 barbershops and salons participated. After 2 month collection, we finally settled in the yard of the Biennale in Atis Rezistans where the local community participated in dreading the dread. Some people expressed their desire to cut their hair and donate it to the project so there was a very nice spontaneous barber shop on site. The project aimed to bring people together, to connect, to explore and to learn. Through this project I was able to meet so many people, explore so many different neighbourhoods, make some incredible new friends, learn a different craft and language and engage support in the conduction.
